Hello Nekre, and thanks for your kind words =)

What you propose is more or less already being done by the corps that have invested time mapping w-space. They don’t use game skills but actually their own.

As time goes by and we gather more evidence and knowledge of how wormholes operate, we find patterns in the randomness. Especially for systems that have static exits.

I wouldn’t consider w-space to be safe. It’s just that if someone wants to engage you and take you down, they have to put the same effort that you put in order to set yourself up in it.

Well I’m sure you guys are learning loads of stuff but I’d like to see it as a game mechanic… Sadly my proposal didn’t get much attention so I’m not going to make much fuss about it. Just wanted to remind you about it because you said you’d look at it once you have the time (back then it was crazy busy with CSM and all) and I wasn’t sure if you did.

Anyways I live in null sec now and blob fights can be fun, if you win. We just spanked CVA to hell and back last night but that was mostly because of lag and a poor call that they made. And to tell you the truth the new sov system isn’t perfect… we still have to take down POSes and all the reinorced stages that things have to go through means you need almost a full week of running ops to take down a system with an outpost. I’m hoping there will be more changes in this area to make things more fluid and not a kind of date between two blobs that can take down the best dedicated node.

Speaking of which Dominion was really laggy when it came out. Just a couple of hundred ships would completely screw things over in a system. But lately CCP has improved on it and we had 1600 in local last night without the node crashing. It wasn’t what you would call playable for most people (as lots of ships were stuck in there with the player disconnected) but at least it didn’t crash.

I just thought I’d share my thoughts about that. To be honest I was expecting a big rush to null sec after Dominion but it didn’t happen. I think lots of people we’re a bit let down by the patch.. mostly because of how overhyped it was and how we knew every single detail months before it came out. But I think things will get better in null sec and there’s already alliances giving up space that smaller groups could take over, and in some cases would probably be welcomed to.

I’m listening to the show and posting at the same time :)

A freighter is good for moving expensive stuff but if you’re moving things expensive enough you will get ganked. I’ve seen it done.

The best option would probably be a jump freighter… You can avoid the suicide gankers that usually sit at the gates.

  7. #7 by nekre on January 29, 2010 - 12:03

BTW where are the show notes ????

  8. #8 by Luminus Aardokay on January 29, 2010 - 12:07

Regarding show notes, QP is probably mid-flight to Seattle as I write these lines. Now.. regarding the freighter, we were talking about hi-sec jumps and ganks. Unfortunately a Jump Freighter cannot jump into a high-sec system.

  9. #9 by nekre on January 29, 2010 - 12:22

well didn’t knew about the jump freighter … :(

btw did you knew the Rorqual can fit a clone vat bay ? So you could actually jump clone in and out of your WH… in theory at least :)

ps: pods can be scanned using probes… not only ships. Even drones can be scanned.

  10. #10 by Luminus Aardokay on January 29, 2010 - 12:46

Unfortunately, clone vat bays do not work inside w-space. Also scanning down pods is time consuming =)

    Thanks for the shoutout :)
I’ll pretend it was nice to see you all.

How Long is QP going to be in Seattle? I am sure there are quite a few Puget Sound area players who would like to meet him, buy him one of the areas find micro brewed spiked quafes.

I guess I need some sleep after the 15hr trip – however there is a brand new episode of Caprica airing tonight so I’ll try to stay awake to catch it live!
