We got super lazy this week and we totally neglected posting episode 15. But you know what they say. Better late than never =) Normally there should be some show notes here, but as I’m once again slacking I’ll let QP do it =PP
Edit by QP:
Here are the major topics we covered in Episode 15:
- Wormhole Colonization – is it worth it these days?
- Recent attacks within wspace (turns out we are not the only ones getting attacked) & defense strategies
- Wormhole Defense Coalition – an idea & proposal
- Using the Zephyr exploration ship to maximize PVE efficiency
- Class 1 Anomalies – the ISK fountain!
- SI Radio 2nd PVP Tournament – some details and ideas
PS: Luminus is officially a slacker

Hey guys,
Great show… I’m happy to hear about more action happening in w-space. I’m a bit sad the new alliance I moved in is mostly RP so they have no interest in wormholes. But I’m really happy I left my old “alliance” because each time I listen to you guys it reminds me how much those guys failed at it
.
keep it up and fly safe o/

PS: careful about the rules to that tourney cuz a Blackbird can permajam 2 small ships so the fight would boil down to who locks first.

Guys,
Great episode and great information. I would like to know where I could find the track that you played between approximately 1:10 and 1:15 during the cast. I would also be interested in what you guys are using to record your podcasts. I am thinking of doing some for non-EVE stuff(fitness stuff) and have been checking out Audacity, but wanted your opinions.

The songs played between the time frames you mention are Luminus Aardokay – Jizz in my Pod (which you can find linked on the Must Visit on the right), and Quasian – Beertime X which you can find here.
For recording the podcast we use Sam Broadcaster 3 as it’s coming out as a live radio show.

Hey guys,
I’m not sure if you heard about this already but there’s some good news for you: planetary interaction is going to be possible in w-space too
http://www.tentonhammer.com/node/81709
“And you can interact with each and every one of them. Including those that are in wormhole space, which can actually be quite challenging.”

Great show guys,
I have a bit of news for you relating to POS Sieges in W-Space. My corp lives in a C4, with a static exit to C2, and it seemed that every WH we opened last week led to a system with a sieged and/or abandoned POS.
It has been good for my wallet, but I wonder what this says about the future of W-Space Colonization?
#7 by Quivering Palm on March 16, 2010 - 02:15
@nekre: Yup we’ve seen and played with those features in SiSi and seems to be quite intrensting for wormholeers – owning and running a system full of planets could be quite valuable for wspace colonists + add something new in wspace at the same time. Nice times indeed
@ Doc: Class 2′s can be sieged by Battleship fleets. We have been victims of such an attack back on the old Planet Risk Class 2 wormhole. However, POSes in wormholes where caps cannot enter due to size limitations, can be quite secure, given the proper defenses and a group of people being there to support.
Stay tuned for the next show – we have much to talk about the future of w-space as we see it

love the show. what was the track you played from 00:12 mins to 00:15?
#9 by Luminus Aardokay on March 19, 2010 - 17:17
Hey gsPhil, the track is called “Five Themes and No Masterplan” by KB. It’s part of the Breakpoint 2010 Invitation demo by Farbrausch and you can download the demo (as well as the soundtrack) here:

Ep 15 – “Normally there should be some show notes here”
Ep – 14 “As always, all musical tracks are from demoscene artists (check out our previous episodes’ shownotes for links to them).”
Guys
There do not appear to be any Show notes available (if they are then they are not particularly visible or accessible)

Any news on episode 16? Cannot wait to hear what went down with the second R&K attack. Hope you guys didn’t rage-quit! (If it makes you feel better, us provi residents are also currently getting our teeth kicked in ^^)
#12 by Quivering Palm on April 8, 2010 - 08:57
@ Kerrji: Show notes are simply the walls of text under each Episode. There are some show notes for most if not all episodes.
@ Etienne: Nah we haven’t rage-quit, we are just taking a break after 300 days in wspace. There will be an episode 16 hopefully soon after Luminus feels better (he has been sick for quite some time now) or when he passes away (in which case I’ll take his stuff and his Radio Station)
Regarding Providence, well what can I say?! May it be a fast and painless death? :-p

Great Podcast.
I have been living in the same Class 1 Unknown wormhole system with a N110 static to highsec since June 2009. have had some trials and tribulations but am still there. as of 2 months ago i joined an alliance and they have joined me in the wormhole for mutual benefit and support. i have recently expanded into a second C1 and have several alts tracking 5 other uninhabited systems from C1 to C5. i do a lot of mining in the wormholes myself and have pulled half a bill or more in high end ores out of a class 1 grav site.
My C1 has man advantages over higher end unknowns. nothing larger than a BC can come in. the only BS’s and Capitals inside are ones i have built myself. my alliance members regulerly run the combat sites on a dayly basis to a nice profit. not as good as a C5 but reasonable and soloable bye a single pilot with moderate BC skills.
today my pos was atacked bye neighbors from a C2 that was temporarily linked to my second system. as they could only bring in BC’s they could not do much to my pos other than disable some of the guns. i was able to call in alliance members to come to my pos’s defence because i allways have a highsec entrance and they arived in a few minutes. although thier empire base was 23 jumps away. even if the atackers were atacking my pos because it was fully stronted they could only put it into reinfoced if they stayed around long enough and would have to find some way to come back 2 days later when the tower came out of reinforced. most raiders would not have the planing and patience to have someone hang around for that long to get thier mates back in. i just manned the pos guns and had some fun shooting back at them while the guns lasted.

i am n the process of building a rorqual to compress the ore in my unknowns to make export easier. has anyone tested using capitals to spawn extra rats in low end unknowns and if so what was spawned. will it spawn the same bs’s as you get in high end unknowns. early on i remember readng something about someone spawning a sleeper dread. was this simply a high end sleeper BS or are there actualy sleeper capitals?
#15 by Quivering Palm on April 15, 2010 - 11:05
Even if you use a cap in lower-end wormholes it won’t spawn extra Sleeper Guardians for you to loot :-p
..And no, there are no Sleeper Dreads – but that would be cool to have! The Sleeper Guardians are the most formidable Sleeper BSs and they deal alot of DPS.

@ Gilliana re people hanging around 2 days.
We have done exactly that by leaving a scanning alt sit there and bring the fleet back in at the right time. (Not that we POS bash in W-Space frequently)
We were giving back some of the agression we received and put the POS into reinforced after some time then came back to finish the job. We also closed their known exit before the POS was reinforced and scanned the new one where we camped some stealth bombers to kill anyone make a run through to locate which left the corp members inside stuck without any probe ships.
So it was a pretty effective hit, and this was all in response to their attempts to gank us which turned out badly. The main thing here is were just carebears ourselves for the most part and if we are willing to go that extra AU, why not some of the raiders?
@QP and everyone else of Planet Risk
That being said we’ve been forming something of a coalition with those we meet in W-Space that are friendly enough just by means of NAPs….it still leaves enough open W-Space to exploit and when in need we’ve come to the aid of these new friends sucessfully….exits always being the variable but how many friends do you have to help you out if you don’t try? certainly your no worse off with a coalition than not.
I’d be interested in partaking or seeing if anyone wants to do something more formal, ours is just casual but its been on my mind for some time as our members and firends grow into more and more wormholes.
cheers, fly safe.
