I think I can… I think I can… FC

SI Radio Member Report: Agatir Solenth – 2101.08.04

Greetings my fellow corp men, women, & blog readers!!!

Things have been pretty quiet down in Providence.  It would seem that we are in the typical slump of summer.  It is time when everyone finds it much more enjoyable to be out in the sun, with friends and family, instead of flying internet space ships.  Damn you all that have real lives! How dare you…

Needless to say that hasn’t stopped a few of us in SI Radio to go out and have some fun.  We moved out to 0.0 to give PvP a shot, and that is exactly what we have attempted to do.  Null sec means small gang roams, gate camps, and pew pew pew.  To that end someone has to take the reigns and lead their fellow pilots to… a great blob of death… err I mean… victory!  So I decided I’d give this FCing thing a shot.  How hard can it be?

To Be, or Not to Be… such is the way of PvP

SI Radio Member Report: Agatir Solenth – 2010.07.20

Greetings my fellow corp men, women, & blog readers!!!
If given a choice to either run plexes for isk or go lose some isk pvping?  I would gladly choose the later of the two.  NPC AI just bores the snot out of me.  I equate it to my early arcade game experience with Pac Man (yes I am dating myself).  Once you discover the correct route (or tactic) against the computer, you cannot fail.  It is just a matter of repeating the same course of action again and again that dictates success.

However meeting another player will never reproduce the same fight or outcome.  It is just human nature.  We adapt to overcome.  So in each engagement, though we may have particular tactic that works most of the time, we must be prepared that it may not work.  This is what makes pvp exciting.  You always have the anxiety of the unexpected, and the thrill of success or the disappointment of failure.  No matter which you experience you learn from it and then desire to go at it again.  Probably more so in defeat, if only to prove to yourself… that won’t happen again! Hello From Providence

SI Radio Member Report: Hello From Providence – 2010.06.30

Greetings my fellow corp men and women (& blog readers)!!!

I am Agatir Solenth (or Ag if you prefer). It has come to my attention that the Planet Risk Show is on the verge of being removed from the Blog Pack for lack of posting activity! As Quivering Palm & Luminus Aardokay have been overwhelmed by real life events (like answering fan mail, drinking beer, or chasing half naked girls on the beaches of Greece) I felt it my duty to step up and blog about the recent events surrounding SI Radio’s move to Providence.

It has been almost two months since I joined the ranks of SI Radio, and I can tell you that flying with these guys has been as much fun as listening to the Planet Risk Show Podcast. It isn’t that we have been super successful. We have had some “epic fail” attempts at PvP. We have gotten suckered into a RP event that turned out to be PvP trap (POP went my Geddon). Our wormhole operations have had limited success due to poor spawn rates in our 0.0 pocket.

What has been really successful is the chemistry of the guys who I fly with. As Quivering Palm and Luminus Aardokay have said again and again on their Podcasts, we are bunch of Carebears that have graduated to Noobs! We have as much fun losing ships as we do shooting them. This has made it a lot of fun to go out and try to learn this thing called PvP, and I for one, have become very good at losing ships! It would appear that we are a collection of beer drinking guys that like to fly internet spaceships. Most of us began our careers in EVE mission running and/or doing the industrial trade thing, and got our first taste of PvP in wormhole space.

That being said… what you can expect from my future reports will be snippets of our exploits and failures, lessons I have learned along the way, and my thoughts about EVE in general.

Until then… Fly Safe… Stay profitable…

I am happy I have a T3 ship and live in wspace

Wspace colonists really can’t catch a break with T3 ships – can we?!

Last night I got myself into some non-consensual PVP… and almost lost my brand new Tengu… and by the looks of it… I might have lost it and never realized that the ship I was flying had a weird bug…

Here is the story:

SI Radio PVP Tournament #2

Alright friends and foes of Split Infinity Radio!

I’ve come up with quite a crazy idea last night… But before I can start planning, I want to share a glimpse of what I’ve thought about with you…

How about we organized a special PVP Tournament, open to everyone, with some really cool prizes and a chance to fight against everyone?… well not only the drunken duo of the Planet Risk show, but also against other folks… fellow listeners of SI Radio… Split Infinity Radio DJs… and their friends… and their friends’ friends’… and their enemies… hehehe

A test of player dog-fight skills and ability to fight under stress – with lots of other pilots around you, watching.. and waiting.. for their turn…

Here is what I’ve come up with so far:

  1. We (Split Infinity Radio) organize and sponsor a PVP Tournament.
  2. There is some sort of entry fee and your ship would have to meet specific requirements (see below)
  3. Everyone who signs up, at the date of the tournaments has to be at a specific system / specific time where the tournament will take place!
  4. The PVPes who signed up will be placed on single-elimination 1vs1 rounds, randomly and would get to fight against our special guests as well as SI Radio members!
  5. Winner takes some cool prizes away with the trophy!

Rules:

You will have to fit and come with a Tech 1 Ship, using only! Tech 1 Meta – 0 modules!

No Named, No faction / deadspace / officer / Tech 2 or anything other – down to the bare minimum! Rigs are allowed.

Ships I am thinking of are Frigates or Cruisers – what do you think?!?!

Check out the poll section on the right – vote!

What do Hulks and Titans have in common?

… lovely killboard pages like this one and this one

As you can also read in the latest Tribune article, the above fight for Y-2ANO recorded as one of the most expensive losses in a single battlefield ever yet in terms of ISK.

Reports say that in fact 7 Titans met their doom but somehow the killmails went lost.

As rumored there are about 250 of those ships (the size of Long Island) in the game.. well about 246 :-p Now, for newbs like me a single Titan loss seems unthinkable.. but 7… or even 4 ?

With the number of players online on the server reaching a new peak record of over 56.000  ((!!)) last weekend, I expect that killmails like that will be coming again sooner or later.

Bundled with player-driven actions like Hulkageddon II, started by Helicity Boson, I say 2010 started with quite a bang!

Exhumers (especially Hulks) are sky-rocketing in market already – almost double price compared to a month ago – as well as Destroyers and other ships used in the suicide runs.

The coverage of Hulkageddon II in media like MMOCrunch and Massively.com is huge, as well as the whole EVE blogosphere.

So what do Hulks and Titans have in common?

They both require massive amounts of minerals to make, especially Tritanium. I am curious to see how the market will be affected…

In the meantime, I am training a mining alt to help mine all those lovely roids inside Planet Risk to help the corp in building more capitals :-)

Getting some RnR this weekend

…or not… depends on what you consider RnR anyways.

For me it’s all about getting some quality time with friends, recreational games and relaxing moments.

OK let me rephrase that… it’s about playing EVE with friends!! :-)
