Welcoming 2010…

…with clearing of some sites inside Planet Risk :-)

After the long hiatus, we are back and eager to clear some sites and make some extra ISK :-)

So after the holidays when everyone was away and not clearing sites we had quite a few spawned inside our new home. In total we had 6 PVE Sites (2 Citadels, 2 Bastions, 1 Strange Energy Readings and 1 Mirror), 9 LADAR sites (Yes 9!!) and 8 Grav Sites (Yes 8!!!) and also a RADAR Site.

So far we’ve cleared most of the PVE and LADARs – but damn! scanning all those signatures every day after server restart just to refresh their sigs so you can scan for any new wormholes is a royal pain! The mining crew has almost cleared a Rarified Core Deposit and we are planning to have a massive mining op soon to clear all the smaller sites in one go.

On the PVE front, we are now using carriers to augment our sleeper encounters and net extra ISK from each site. The first carrier you bring into the mix spawns an additional 6 Sleepless Guardians (the best Sleeper BS kind) while the second carrier you bring spawns an additional 8! Nothing to worry about though… the encounters are easy enough when you have 2x Carriers on grid and the DPS is quite good to clear the sites fast enough. The extra ISK from the Guardians is also most welcome!

Here are some nice looking pics from our recent encounters. Look ma! Lights!

PVP action has been quite low these days – following last month’s massacre where I got podded – I’d say this is not bad. A few days ago we had some folks hauling stuff through our wormhole but we lacked the manpower to setup an effective camp using bubbles etc so we didn’t net any kills. Too bad :-(

On another note, we are still debating whether to build a Rorqual right away or build some Dreadnoughts first. We will talk about that on our next show, as well as give you detailed info on how to use carriers in wspace encounters from our experiences these days.

Last, but not least, on a personal note, my main (Quivering Palm) just got over 20M SPs (huzzah!) roughly about the same time as I celebrated my first year in the game. One year ago I was looking to find level 1 agents with Quality 15+ and now I am debating whether to build a Moros or a Rorqual.. I’d say it has been a good first year and hope much more to come! :-)

See you out there!

    Hey!
Question for you, how long where you gone from your wormhole?
I’m interested to see how long it took for a dead wormhole system to regenerate spawns

@ Helicity : Hey keep those Hulks burning! :-p We are not actively participating in the Hulkageddon II but we will be talking about it on our next show! :-)

    @ iambeastx:

We where off for about a month – but we did log daily to check up on things – just didn’t run any sites.

I don’t believe in the theory of “dead wormhole systems”. I’ve seen systems being farmed day and night and still spawn 2-3 PVE sites every day. I’ve seen nothing spawning for weeks – or rather 1 site per week.

IMHO the whole spawning mechanism for sites and anomalies is completely random, and only the static wormhole(s) theory is proven.

Indeed true the ‘dead wormhole’ title implies nothing but there is always something, we do indeed get 2-3 sites a week but nothing compared to how it was a t first.
A month would be a fair length of time to leave though.
Another topic for your Knowledgebase, wormhole mass allowances are wrong, maybe not all are but H296 and N432 are definitely running with a 10% difference to the supposed 3B they are supposed to be.

I think some mass allowances are inaccurate or rather…slightly variable as well. Our experience suggests what you describe, Beast.

First of all we use EVEHQ Void plug-in for wormhole mass / time calculations. It’s the most up-to-date database for wormhole masses that I am aware of.

Now, these suggestions for mass are based on the database that CCP publishes and it’s somehow reverse-engineered from that datadumb (not sure exactly how) but needless to say it’s not 100% accurate.

We indeed have noticed some inconsistencies close to 5-10% on mass but nothing that we can be 100% sure of in any case.

Regarding the “dead wormhole” concept. I’ve said it and will say it again. Wormholes will keep respawning their sites in a random order and no POS active or Player-driven activity will affect that random rate.

Our observations after living in the same wormhole for months has proven that theory. You might get lucky for a period of time or not. If you live in the same wspace system for long you will get to see both massive spawn rates and weeks without any spawns.

We are 100% sure on the +10% h296 and N432 as we very regularly (sometimes 4-11 times a nite) use a collapse plan that goes to +10% whereas a different plan of up to +5% never worked properly
